Barilla: Celebrity Italian Table

Barilla, the world’s number one pasta maker, and America’s Second Harvest—The Nation’s Food Bank Network have partnered again in the fight against hunger with the launch of “The Celebrity Italian Table Cookbook.”  This marks the second annual call on pasta lovers to join Barilla and America’s Second Harvest to help those in need.

Barilla began more than 130 years ago as a small pasta shop in Italy and is now one of the world’s leading pasta producer.  Barilla takes pride in helping families and friends come together to share food and enjoy life.  Barilla believes that creating, cooking and enjoying food is an art and a basic need.  Through “The Celebrity Italian Table Cookbook” they have brought these passions together to benefit a great cause.

Renowned chef Mario Batali and entertaining expert David Tutera developed six three-course meals and table settings inspired by Hollywood celebrities Marisa Tomei, Debra Messing, Stanley Tucci, Chris Daughtry and Natalie Portman, which can easily be recreated at home.

The cookbook will be available to download free of charge at www.CelebrityItalianTable.com throughout the month of February and March.  For every person who downloads this cookbook, Barilla will donate $1 to America's Second Harvest, up to $100,000.  On the site, customers will have the choice of donating dollars to the America's Second Harvest national office or to the Network Member closest to them.

We are also very excited about the multiple opportunities to promote this partnership through a variety of media outlets.  Both Mario Batali and Marisa Tomei will appear on The Today Show, The Rachel Ray Show and others to discuss Barilla’s support of America's Second Harvest while directing viewers to the website to download the cookbook.  The cookbook and its table concepts will be highlighted, by David Tutera, on segments of the cable show Get Married on The Lifetime Network February 4, 6 and 8 and will re-air through-out the month starting February 12.

In addition, the partnership will also be featured throughout a wide assortment of print materials as well as on-line.  Look for us in Country Living, First for Women, Quick & Simple, Fitness Magazine and on TheNest.com, FoodandWine.com and Health.com.

Since 1997, Barilla has been a supporter of America’s Second Harvest donating over 5 million pounds of pasta. Donations are distributed among more than 200 member food banks serving all 50 states, the District of Colombia and Puerto Rico. The cookbook initiative allows Barilla to continue their desire to support hunger relief in the United States.  Please visit the website and download your copy today.
