America's Second Harvest Names Alice G. Archabal Chief Development Officer

CHICAGO --- February 9, 2007 --- America's Second Harvest – The Nation's Food Bank Network announced today that Alice G. Archabal has been promoted to Chief Development Officer from Vice President of Philanthropy. America’s Second Harvest is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization.
Archabal will be in charge of the new donor relations team, which comprises a merger of the food sourcing and philanthropy staff to establish one central development team to manage contributions of both food and funds to the nonprofit organization.
In 2005 Archabal joined America’s Second Harvest as the Vice President of Philanthropy. Under her guidance, her philanthropy team developed new key national corporate partnerships, raising more than $30 million in disaster relief funds and an additional $36 million for operational and program support.
“Alice’s demonstrated ability to effectively manage her team and raise unprecedented dollars for our organization position us at the forefront of corporate philanthropy,” said Vicki Escarra, president and CEO of America’s Second Harvest. “With the merging of these two teams, we are poised to enhance business development with our corporate partners and dramatically increase the amount of money and product flowing through our Network.”
For more than 18 years, Alice has been dedicated to raising money for national nonprofit organizations. She began her career in the area of events and promotions for the American Lung Association and joined St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 1992. Archabal spent 14 years with St. Jude, where she was responsible for the development of key national fundraising programs and partnerships. She managed a regional field staff of 50.
Archabal is a graduate of Ripon College in Ripon, Wisconsin, where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology.
