Cleveland, OH -- Nestlé USA's Stouffer's® brand, one of the leaders in the U.S. frozen food category, raised $75,500 for local charities through the help of its consumers in Los Angeles, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Rochester. For the past two months, every Stouffer's item purchased at participating retailers in Los Angeles, Cleveland and Pittsburgh triggered a $.10 (ten cent) donation by Nestlé USA to local area charities. An additional amount was donated to certain charities in the Buffalo/Rochester area in conjunction with "Check Out Hunger", a fundraiser that allowed consumers to feed a family for a day by donating money at the supermarket checkout counters of participating retailers.
The Stouffer's brand team recognized the need for charity resources and support at the local level, and provided the means for community members to help those in need. Families helped other families in their community—effortlessly--by purchasing Stouffer's products. Stouffer's products helped busy families share a meal together, while helping their community.
Participating cities and charities included:
Los Angeles, where $35,000 was donated to Habitat for Humanity (HFH);
Pittsburgh, where $15,000 was donated to the Greater Pittsburgh Community
Food Bank;
Cleveland, where $18,000 was shared by the Cleveland Foodbank,
Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Second Harvest Foodbank of North Central Ohio
and the Mahoning Valley Foodbank;
Buffalo/Rochester, where $7,500 was
donated to Food Bank of Western NY in Buffalo and FOODLINK in Rochester.
"We
launched this program to create an easy way for our consumers to help their
communities by doing the simplest thing – eating dinner. We were gratified by
the results of those who responded in their communities," said Radhika Zaveri,
Marketing Manager for the Stouffer's brand.
With a $35,000 donation, HFH-LA can purchase the tools they need to build
many area homes, and help provide needy families with homes to call their own,
and the Food Banks can provide emergency food assistance to those in need. Each
participating food bank is a member of America's Second Harvest, the nation's
largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Nestlé USA, which markets the
Stouffer's brand, has been a steadfast product donor to America's Second Harvest
for over 20 years and has been recognized for their long-term support of
hunger-relief efforts with America's Second Harvest Hunger's Hope
Award.
