ConAgra Foods Donates Chicken Nuggets, Turkeys, Corn Dogs, Granola Bars, French Fries, Pudding to Hungry Kids in the Summer

ConAgra Foods' nine million pounds of food will help fight childhood hunger in America on June 5 and beyond
Chicago, IL -- May 20, 2002 -- ConAgra Foods, North America's second -largest food company, is stepping to the plate to make sure hungry children get a nutritious meal this summer. Since America's Second Harvest issued its urgent Call to Action in February, ConAgra's well-known consumer brands such as Act II, Armour, Butterball, Chef Boyardee, Eckrich, Healthy Choice, Hebrew National, Hunt's, and Peter Pan have donated more than 6 million pounds of chicken, pork, beef, prepared meals, groceries and snacks. During the next three months, they expect 3 million more pounds of wholesome foods to be distributed from their warehouses.
They are loading up their trucks to deliver goods to kid-friendly feeding sites of America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest hunger-relief charity.
"School may be out for the summer, but millions of low-income children won't know where there next meal will come from," said Lynn Phares, president of ConAgra Foods' Feeding Children Better Foundation. "Our operating companies know that, and have generously agreed to meet the challenge of providing healthy foods that kids love."
As the national sponsor of America's Second Harvest children's feeding program - Kids Cafe - ConAgra has funded 89 new sites that provide hearty snacks and meals to children who miss school meals during summer vacation.

multi-million-dollar commitment that will open at least 100 Kids Cafes by the
