The Pampered Chef Ltd. and America's Second Harvest Join Forces in the Fight Against Hunger

"Round-Up from the Heart" campaign helps feed nation's hungry
Addison, IL -- August 31, 2001 -- As part of its ongoing effort to combat hunger in America, The Pampered Chef, Ltd., has partnered with America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest hunger-relief charity, for its 11th annual "Round-Up from the Heart" corporate giving campaign. Thanks to the efforts of 62,000 Independent Kitchen Consultants and millions of customers, $1.2 million was collected last year in the fight to help feed the nation's hungry, bringing the company's 10-year contribution total to more than $5 million - a record cash donation for America's Second Harvest cause-marketing partners.
"For every dollar donated to America's Second Harvest, we can distribute 30 pounds of food to our network of more than 200 food banks and food-rescue programs across the country," said Robert Forney, President and CEO, America's Second Harvest. "Through our network, we help feed one in ten Americans and distribute more than one billion pounds of food and grocery products each year to our affiliates. Companies like The Pampered Chef are instrumental in our efforts to create a hunger-free America."
Each year, The Pampered Chef's Kitchen Consultants promote the "Round-Up from the Heart" campaign at in-home cooking demonstrations from September through February. Customers are invited to round-up their purchase totals to the nearest dollar or more. All proceeds are returned to the America's Second Harvest food bank in the community where the donation was generated, making this a national campaign with local impact.
Customers are also invited to purchase a special collectible stoneware cookie mold. This year's Hospitality Heart Cookie Mold features the pineapple, a colonial American symbol of hospitality. One dollar from each sale goes directly to the national office of America's Second Harvest, headquartered in Chicago, IL. More than 198,000 molds were sold in 2000.
