Harvest For All - Event and Other Ideas

EVENT IDEAS:

  • Food Drives. Partner with a local truck dealership fora food drive weekend. Food Banks are in need of specific "wish list" products from food drives. You can organizeYF&R volunteers to collect the food and deliver it to thefood bank.
  • Feed a Family. Sponsor pre-printed grocery bags withthe Harvest For All logo, and distribute a set number ofbags to each county Farm Bureau office to fill. Work withlocal food banks to determine delivery locations andpromotional ideas.
  • Family Picnic. Organize a summer fun day for yourlocal farming community. Secure donations through abake sale or admit people to the event with a donation of 2 cans of food per person for the local food bank.

OTHER IDEAS:

  • Find gleaning opportunities and provide teams ofvolunteers to pick and pack.
  • Inquire about bulk donations processed or re-packed for family size distribution.
  • Find local companies to make financial donations onbehalf of Harvest For All to the food bank or America’s Second Harvest.
  • Involve your kids! Start a "schools out" food drive atlocal schools. Kids can design the flyers, and you canoffer to speak at the school.
  • Include Harvest For All in your local meetings andevents. Have a representative from the food bank speakor host your meeting at a local food bank.
  • Give a hopper! Commit the proceeds from one hopper after the harvest.
  • Remember to track your totals for year-end updates toHFA! The categories are total pounds donated, total fundsraised and total volunteer hours.
